Purpose
The Laborer – Grounds Maintenance position is responsible for the cultivation and care of the landscaping and grounds surrounding company buildings and properties.
- Report damage to sidewalks and streets and assist in the repair of concrete and asphalt as needed
- Perform general cleaning of a building (exterior and interior) or work area to include pressure washing, painting, clearing rubble and debris, and removing waste
- Participate in the removal of graffiti, stickers, signage, etc. to maintain a pleasing and safe environment
- Assist with seasonal lawn maintenance and providing certain landscaping to include trimming the shrubbery and trees, as needed, as well as fertilizing, weeding and mulching
- Sweep walkways of debris and pick up and dispose of litter / trash
- Mow or edge lawns, using power mowers or edgers
- Mix and spray or spread fertilizer, herbicides, or insecticides on grass, shrubs or trees, using hand or automatic spreaders
- Operate power equipment, such as mowers, tractors, snow blowers, chain saws, electric clippers, and pruning saws as needed to care for established lawns
- Shovel snow from walks, driveways or parking lots and spread salt in those areas
- Perform minor maintenance and repair on company equipment that is needed to be utilized in grounds keeping
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Must possess a valid driver’s license from any state at the time of hire, and able to acquire a State of Pennsylvania’s License within sixty (60) days of hire. The PADL must be maintained in good standing to meet essential requirements of job
- Ability to understand and carry out basic verbal and written correspondence, instructions, rules, policies
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and use basic numerial concepts (whole numbers, percentages) to complete job tasks
- Ability to use measuring devices such as tapes and gauges where reading is direct and obvious
- Vision includes acuity near and far, peripheral vision and depth perception
- Ability to hear auditory commands and emergency signaling from heavy equipment not to direct line of sight
