Pittsburgh, PA Purpose
The carpenter position constructs and repairs building frameworks and structures such as stairways, door frames, kitchen cabinets, partitions, and rafters from wood and other materials.
- Constructs building frameworks, including wall studs, floor joists, and door frames. Shapes or cuts materials to specified measurements
- Installation of drywall and/or acoustic ceiling grid and tile
- Complete survey, layout, and elevation for new work using transit and building level
- Installation of floor finishes
- Completes demolition work as required by assigned tasks
- Forming and pouring concrete
- Installation and maintenance of door frames, doors and hardware
- Hang and finish drywall
- Install steam beams, lintels, and reinforcing
- Surface preparation and painting
- Assemble, erect, and disassemble scaffolding
- Review all project activities every day to make sure everything is performed to company standards as well as the latest OSHA regulations and standards
- Adhere to direction given by site supervisior
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 3-5 years’ experience in property / commercial construction / remodeling
- Able to read and interpret blueprints
- Ability to understand and carry out basic verbal and written correspondence, instructions, rules and policies
- Able to measure distance, area, volume, and weight using standard tools and mathematical formulas
- Ability to use measuring devices such as tapes and gauges where reading is direct and obvious
- Vision includes acuity near and far, peripheral vision and depth perception.
