Don Kortlandt is the General Counsel of Pittsburgh History & Landmarks Foundation (PHLF), a nonprofit corporation which works to identify and save historically significant places; renew historic neighborhoods, towns and urban areas; preserve historic farms and historic designed landscapes; and educate people about the Pittsburgh region’s rich architectural heritage.

Don is responsible for supervision of all legal aspects of PHLF’s activities including property acquisition, restoration, disposition and leasing, lending transactions, preservation easements, and committee and board governance matters. Before joining PHLF, Don had been an associate and partner at K&L Gates for over 30 years and the General Counsel and Acting Executive Director of the City of Pittsburgh Urban Redevelopment Authority for 3 years.

Don received his J.D. from Columbia University Law School, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, and a S.B. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is the President of the Board of the Chamber Orchestra of Pittsburgh and previously chaired boards of the National Conference of Christians and Jews (Pittsburgh Chapter), Housing Opportunities Inc., and Opera Theater of Pittsburgh.
